Sample Security Services Policies and Standard Operating Procedures:

Patrol Tactics and Procedures / Guard Post Orders
  Grooming and Appearance Standards
  Inclement Weather Policy
  Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Program
  Radio, Telephone, Communication Policy
Shift Commanders and Supervisor Post Orders
  Patrol Routes
  Parking Policy

It is essential that your organization maintain comprehensive and updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  The lack of comprehensive documented and enforced SOPs does not alleviate an organization of liability for actions taken or not taken by their employees, representative, associates, etc.  Undocumented Procedures that are routinely practiced by members of the organization are in fact Standard Operating Procedures which have no oversight or control mechanism to ensure a safe and secure environment.  Whenever members of the organization are permitted to operate outside of the scope of the posted SOPs they in fact modify/ratify the SOP and create an implied or sanctioned procedure.

Example: Although post orders do not permit for employee escorts, a Security Officer is routinely providing employee escorts to their cars at night.  One evening the Security Officer is not available for the escort and the employee gets mugged.  The employee may file a lawsuit stating that the implied security service of employee escorts was not provided and therefore the employee was mugged.
