  The following Guard Post Orders Index illustrates some of the topics that have been and may be included in your organizations Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).  Guard Post Orders will be specific to the post and are typically living documents that have to be periodically reviewed and updated.   1.0 POST INFORMATION:                
                             
    These Post Orders apply to all (Client Name) posts regarding patrol tactics and procedures.  Additional specific posts orders are also included in this publication for the various posts and indicated in the specific post sections below.

  3.0 STANDARDS OF CONDUCTS            
                             
    Security Officers are the first personnel seen by visitors, employees and the general public.  Your uniform should be clean and pressed.  Your boots must be brush shined.  You are expected to present a professional image.  You must be courteous and ready to render assistance as needed but not allow anything to distract you from performing your assigned duties.  The list below contains standards of conduct required while on duty
   
   
   
   
                             
    3.1 No officer can assume their post until they have been properly equipped, inspected, and received complete post assignment briefing.
     
    3.2 No officer can carry a personal two-way communication device such as cell phones on their person unless specific written authorization has been granted by the Security Director and/or Deputy Security Director.
     
     
    3.3 No officer is permitted to conduct personal business/affairs while on-duty whether in person, on the telephone, or any other means.

  5.0 SAFE WEAPONS HANDLING POLICY:          
                             
    The following safe weapons handling procedures and principles will be adhered to by all employees at all locations:
   
                             
    5.1 Employees will treat all weapons as if they are always loaded.
    5.2 Weapons will not be pointed at anything or anyone an employee is not willing and lawfully authorized to destroy.
     
    5.3 Armed employees will be aware of the area surrounding possible targets including areas which could be in danger should over-penetration occur.

  6.0 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:        
                             
    6.1 Monitor Area of Responsibility          
                             
      You are required to be attentive to your surroundings so that you are aware of situations or personnel that are out of the ordinary.  You will:
     
                             
      6.1.1 Monitor personnel on the interior and exterior of the facility(s).  Observe personnel entering, leaving or loitering around the facility(s) for illegal or suspicious activity.  At the beginning of each shift you are required to conduct a through security check of the exterior and garage area.
     
     
     
                             
      6.1.2 Monitor the loading and unloading of vehicles adjacent to the facility(s). Be alert for personnel leaving their vehicle or a vehicle that has pulled up and no one enters or departs from the vehicle.  Investigate illegally parked or suspicious vehicles immediately and notify the Control Center.

  7.0 CONTINGENCY OPERATIONS:        
                             
    7.1 GENERAL: As a Security Officer you are expected to take action to maintain the safety and security of all personnel and property at (client name) facility(s).  Be aware that at any point a non-hostile event can turn hostile and violent towards yourself or others.  You need to be prepared to handle these situations quickly and decisively while remaining calm and using only the necessary minimum force required.  If possible, your first action should be notification to ensure others are aware and back-up if needed is in route to assist you.
