National Harbor is a 300-acre multi-use waterfront
development on the shores of the Potomac River in Prince
George's County, Maryland just south of Washington, D.C. near
the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. It is being built by the Peterson
Companies. The project is expected to cost over $2.1 billion.
The
cornerstone of the development was the
Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, which opened on
April 1, 2008 and is said to be the
largest non-gaming hotel and convention center on the East Coast.
National Harbor contains or will contain several new hotels,
waterfront condos, offices, retail stores, nightspots, a
full-service marina, a new location for the
National Children's Museum, and The Walt Disney Company
announced that it would build a new resort hotel at the National
Harbor.
This new
resort hotel, like the project under construction in Hawaii,
will be in a prime geographic location and will provide guests
with the same comfort, fun and amenities for which Disney is
famous.
